The Village's central business district was recently approved for listing on the National Register of Historic Places for both a north district (north of the railroad tracks) and a south district (south of the railroad tracks). - Historic districts recognize the historic and architectural importance of buildings throughout the nation; and help to preserve the character and identity of communities
- Historic districts may promote the economic vitality of the Central Business District through the growth of new and existing businesses
- Many people across the country enjoy taking part in heritage tourism and visiting historic buildings, museums and districts
- Tax incentives are available for the certified rehabilitation of income-producing properties listed on the National Register
