Planning  Division

The Village planning staff ensures compliance with the Village’s long range planning vision through the administration of the Comprehensive Plan, Downtown Strategic Plan, the Downtown Streetscape and Parking Study and the Wayfinding and Signage Plan. Staff enforces the Zoning Code, Subdivision Code and Sign Code in addition to other Ordinances adopted by the Village Board. 

Additionally, the planning staff works closely with residents, business owners and developers to facilitate the review and analysis of development projects and other requests listed below. Several of the requests below require review by the Plan Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals or Historic Preservation Commission. The planning staff coordinates the reviews for these three commissions, which are advisory to the Village Board.

In addition to the above mentioned project types, planning staff administratively reviews certain zoning variations, land transfers, lot splits and lot consolidations. More detailed information about the different processes can be found in the respective application packets below.
