Warhol Exhibition

June 3-September 10
Cleve Carney Museum of Art

Following the success of the summer 2021 blockbuster exhibition, “Frida Kahlo: Timeless,” the Cleve Carney Museum of Art and the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage will host an exhibition of Andy Warhol from June 3-September 10, 2023. 

The exhibition will feature 94 works from “Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop / Works from the Bank of America Collection” on loan through Bank of America’s Art in our Communities® program. The exhibition will also include over 100 works from the College of DuPage Permanent Art Collection. The exhibition will encompass both the Cleve Carney Museum of Art and the McAninch Arts Center, unfolding across roughly 10,000 square feet of exhibition space.

The businesses Downtown have been busy decorating their windows to highlight Glen Ellyn's love of Warhol. Stroll down our streets and enjoy the installations, but be sure to stop inside for that perfect item to bring home and enjoy! 



GlenEllyn-PopArtPop Art Challenge

Organizations throughout DuPage County participating in the public art project have selected four notable members of their community. Their headshots have been transformed into a colorful Warhol-styled mural. Glen Ellyn's mural is located at 558 Crescent Blvd outside the Sign of the Whale Antiques Store. 

Sean Hayes is an actor, comedian, and producer and best known for playing Jack McFarland on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award, four SAG Awards, one American Comedy Award, and earned six Golden Globe nominations. Sean has also starred in two shows on Broadway and currently starring in the podcast Smartless.

Laurie Anderson born in Glen Ellyn in 1947, a graduate of Glenbard West High School, Laura Phillips Anderson, known as Laurie Anderson, is an American avant-garde artist, composer, musician, and film director whose work spans performance art, pop music, and multimedia projects. 

Katherine Dunham born in 1909, is best known for incorporating Caribbean, African, and South American movement styles into her ballets. She was an American dancer, choreographer, creator of the Dunham Technique, author, educator, anthropologist, and social activist who starred in movies and had one of the most successful dance careers in African-American of the 20th century.

Jeffrey Deaver is an international number-one bestselling author of more than forty novels, three collections of short stories, a nonfiction law book, and lyrics of a country-western album. His books are sold in 150 countries and translated into twenty-five languages and have appeared on bestseller lists around the world.

Photo Spots & Walking Tour

Downtown Glen Ellyn will come alive this summer with Warhol-inspired Photo Spots throughout the Downtown. Immerse yourself in Studio 54 with our Disco Plaza and Warhol Walkway. Enjoy Warhol-inspired painted flower pots throughout the Central Business District. See some of Glen Ellyn's most famous citizens and enjoy Warhol-inspired murals along our streets.

Glen Ellyn Public Library Embraces Warhol

Glen Ellyn Public Library accepted the ‘The DuPage Warhol Public Pop Art Challenge’ and is showcasing Cleveland Holmes, Gary Sinise, Billy Williams, and Amy Carlson in its windows! The Cleve Carney Museum of Art and the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage invited communities to participate in ‘The DuPage Warhol Public Pop Art Challenge’ to showcase members of, highlight, and attract visitors to their community.

Help celebrate Glen Ellyn Food Pantry’s 37th birthday by donating items for their Birthday Bag program. Please bring birthday cards, birthday candles, gift bags, cake mix, frosting, plates, and napkins for donation and leave them in one of the three huge Warhol Soup Cans on display in the library.
