Water Meter Touchpad Changeout

October 30

Public Works is continuing to upgrade the Village's water meter reading infrastructure. This involves the replacement of the existing touchpad located on the outside of the home used for obtaining the monthly reading for billing purposes with a new radio read unit, similar to what Nicor and ComEd have done in the area. The new, light grey boxes are a little bigger than the existing black touchpads but the mounting points will be able to be reused in most cases. The change out of the unit will only take about 10 minutes and crews would not need access inside the home. Residents will not experience any disruption in service from this work and will be notified that the work occurred with a door hanger. If there is an issue with the conversion, Public Works would notify the customer to set up an inside appointment at a later date.

Crews are moving to the next metering district, and the boundaries of this area can be seen in the below map. Questions can be directed to Public Works at (630) 469-6756.
