The recycling cart is Village property and should be left at your house if you move;

On Mondays, the recycling cart should be placed with its “mouth” facing the street, as indicated by the arrows on the lid. It is wise to leave space around the recycling cart so that it may be safely placed back after it is emptied by a hydraulic arm;

The carts carry a 10-year warranty and the Village should be contacted about defects. Should the cart be lost or damaged by the homeowner, you will be responsible for the repair/replacement cost;

You may keep your recycling bin(s) for personal use or have them collected by placing them with your regular refuse and recycling. If possible, please try to break up the old bin and place it in the new recycling cart so that it may be recycled instead of placed with the refuse. The Village will also offer a bin drop off program during the 2010 Recycling Extravaganza, to be held on April 24, 2010;

If you are anticipating the need for an additional 35-gallon cart, or the exchange to a 35-gallon cart, please be aware that they will be ready for distribution in either January or February 2010;

Allied Waste will not collect recycling carts that are overflowing. Please request an additional cart instead. If you have a one-time event in which more recycling is created than usual, you may utilize your old recycling bin. If you do have more recycling than your 65-gallon cart can handle on a regular basis however, requesting an additional cart is the best manner in which to proceed. This is because Allied Waste will not allow the use of recycling bins for an indefinite period as a result of the trucks utilized for recycling collection; and

Those wishing to exchange cart sizes will be charged a $15 delivery fee. This is similar to the fee charged for the swap out of refuse carts.
