Certified Local Government Annual Report

The Village of Glen Ellyn became a Certified Local Government (CLG) in 2004 through the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA). This program allows the Village to receive priority access to grant funds and allows home owners of landmarked property within the Village to take advantage of the Illinois Property Tax Assessment Freeze.

The IHPA also offers training and technical assistance to Certified Local Governments. The Village is required, as a CLG, to create an annual report that highlights preservation accomplishments for the year. The Planning and Development Department recently completed a CLG report covering the preservation accomplishments of the Village from 2013 until 2017.

Some of the topics reported include landmark designations, Architecture Resource Surveys (conducted and results), and activities of the Historic Preservation Commission. Download the Certified Local Government Report (PDF).
