Message from Chief Norton

Welcome to the Glen Ellyn Police Department! I am proud to serve as Police Chief of a Department made up of the finest individuals in law enforcement. The Village of Glen Ellyn is a wonderful community and the members of this Department are proud to provide professional law enforcement services to the 28,000 residents that make Glen Ellyn their home and the countless others who work or otherwise visit our community.

The Department is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days a year by 45 sworn police officers and 13 full and part-time civilian employees. There is always someone to provide professional, courteous service in person at the police window or on the telephone. We respond to nearly 40,000 calls for service each year, and our staff excels at practicing a customer service approach to law enforcement.

The Department offers several community programs including Coffee with the Cops - a monthly informal chat with the Chief held in a group setting. We are always open to input and consistently seek ways to improve. Social media makes keeping in touch with us easier than ever. We can be found on our Facebook page and on Twitter.

Glen Ellyn is a 9-1-1 community which means if you need to see a police officer for any type of report, dial 9-1-1. While we have a non-emergency telephone line, all police dispatches are coordinated through the consolidated 9-1-1 center.
