In a continued effort to support the business community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village Board passed a resolution at the May 26 Village Board Meeting granting approval rights to expedite plans for additional outdoor dining and shopping opportunities throughout the Village.
On Friday, May 29, the Village of Glen Ellyn entered into Phase 3 of Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan. With new state guidelines in place, many of Glen Ellyn’s dining establishments have re-opened and introduced new outdoor cafes and seating areas.
Outdoor Dining Tent on Main: Main Street Al Fresco
- The tent is now located between Duane and the Main Street lot (lot remains open).
- Traffic in both directs is closed on this section of Main Street.
- Restaurant curbside pick-up can be accommodated along Duane, Hillside and the area of Main, south of the tent.

Business Information and Guidelines
Bars and restaurants in Illinois are permitted to reopen with outdoor seating in Phase 3 of Restore Illinois, effective May 29, 2020. The Village of Glen Ellyn is temporarily modifying the outdoor dining regulations in order to allow restaurants and bars to open without jeopardizing the health and safety of the public and their employees.
