Coronavirus GE Update

The Village of Glen Ellyn is planning and preparing for complications which may arise locally from the spread of COVID-19. This includes continued coordination with other local and state agencies including the Illinois Department of Public Health, DuPage County Health Department and the DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DCOHSEM).

Health experts have advised municipal level preparation and requested assistance with mitigating the effects of the Coronavirus.

The Village strongly encourages anyone who suspects they may have the coronavirus or have been in exposed to the virus to contact a medical professional immediately.

Village President Diane McGinley offers a letter to residents with an update on the Village’s response efforts to COVID-19.

Continue to Support Local Businesses
Glen Ellyn Dine at Home
Consider participating in the Glen Ellyn Dine at Home program with options of curbside pick-up and delivery. For a list of local restaurants, please visit the Chamber of Commerce website.

Curbside Pick-Up Signage 
You will begin to see new curbside pick-up signs throughout the downtown in an effort to support the restaurants and bars that offer curbside pick-up.

Glen Ellyn Keep Shopping Local with Shipping
Consider participating in Glen Ellyn Keep Shopping Local with Shipping, and show your support by:

  • Shopping on-line
  • Call in to purchase from items shown on social media
  • Purchasing a gift card to use later
  • Buy items now for future use

Village Links Golf Course Opens, Following Specific Guidelines
The Village Links Golf Course is open as of Wednesday, March 25 for reserved tee times (walking only). Golfers must pay by credit card (no cash) at the starter hut and must adhere to all social distancing guidelines.

The Illinois Municipal League received updated guidance from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) regarding the status of golf courses. The guidance concluded that golf courses may remain open, walking only (no cart use allowed), and the clubhouse and all food and beverage service must remain closed. Only online or telephone scheduling is allowed. Golfers and staff must observe social distancing guidelines while at the golf course.
