Community-wide Message Regarding Planned Assembly (Monday, June 1, 2:30 p.m.)
The Village and the Glen Ellyn Police Department are aware of the planned assembly to occur at the Lake Ellyn boathouse this evening beginning at 7 p.m., continued with a walk to the Civic Center and concluding again at the boathouse. We expect this will be a peaceful gathering and respect the right of the people peaceably to assemble, but remind attendees that violent acts will not be tolerated. Police will continue to have a heightened presence throughout the community.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Police Department has suggested that businesses in the downtown close their storefronts by 5 p.m. this evening. Community members witnessing any criminal behavior or unusual situations should call 9-1-1 to report an emergency.

Last night, neighboring communities to Glen Ellyn sustained damage from criminal activity. Some local businesses elected to close last night as a result of these circumstances occurring. While there were no incidents that occurred in Glen Ellyn, the Glen Ellyn Police Department continues to monitor this situation along with their law enforcement partners. The Department will continue to maintain a heightened presence throughout the community.
Residents and community members are reminded and encouraged to pay attention to your surroundings and dial 9-1-1 in the event you observe criminal activity.

Village of Glen Ellyn Safety Alert (Sunday, May 31, 7:30 p.m.)
The Glen Ellyn Police Department is monitoring reports from nearby communities of isolated incidents of looting and damage to property. It appears that malls and big box stores are the primary targets. At this time, there have been no incidents in Glen Ellyn, however residents should be aware of this evolving situation and pay attention to your surroundings. Some local businesses within the Glen Ellyn community have elected to close out of an abundance of caution.
The Glen Ellyn Police Department already has in place an increase in police presence in the community. Additionally, the Police Department is in communication with law enforcement agencies in neighboring communities and throughout the region, sharing information and working together to monitor the situation and maintain order and safety.
