Help do your part and assist the Village of Glen Ellyn with getting the lead out. To provide safe drinking water to the public, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is mandating the reporting of all water service pipe materials currently in use.
The Village requests that all residents conduct a self-evaluation of their water service line so we can create and maintain a database of water service lines, documenting information such as pipe material, size, ownership, installation dates and other factors.
The Village has developed a response form, and a short testing procedure to determine the material of the water service line.
The three-step testing process involves locating the water line, scratching the surface of the pipe, tapping it with a penny, and determining how the pipe reacts to a magnet.
Once the material of the water line has been distinguished, the Village requests that all residents submit their findings along with a photo by using the form located at www.glenellyn.org/gettheleadout
